Hello security and alarm professionals,

One of the biggest lessons from our second year in business (as owners of Alarm Masters) was that growth came from better people, not better processes.

For a while, we tried to solve problems with systems and procedures. What actually moved the needle was hiring A players and giving them ownership.

A sales manager helped new reps ramp faster. A director of operations rebuilt forecasting, project management, and manpower planning. Strong leaders created more strong leaders.

We saw the same pattern in acquisitions. Every deal taught us how to evaluate opportunities better, ask smarter questions, and avoid costly mistakes.

The takeaway: invest ahead of where you are today. If you want a stronger sales team, hire before you feel ready. If you want better operations, bring in leadership before you think you need it.

Growth usually requires making the investment before the return is obvious.
